Man beaten to death over FB post in Rajbari

A 60-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over a Facebook post in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam Khan, a resident of Boalia village in the upazila.

Police have detained a woman named Golapi Begum in connection with the incident.

The incident took place at around 11:00 AM in Boalia village.

According to the victim’s family, Nazrul was severely beaten during a confrontation and sustained an injury to his head. He died at the scene, they said.

Runa, the deceased’s daughter said, "a dispute had developed between their family and neighbours over a Facebook post. She alleged that the neighbours later attacked her father and beat him severely."

“At one point, he was struck on the head and died at the scene,” she said, demanding a proper investigation and justice.

Kalukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafa Kamal confirmed the incident and said Nazrul was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over a trivial matter.

Police recovered a stick from the scene and detained Golapi Begum in connection with the incident, he said.

The body was recovered and sent to a morgue for autopsy.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police of Pangsha Circle visited the scene. Police said they were investigating the actual cause of the incident and identifying those involved in the killing.
