Students seek PM’s intervention as CUET crisis continues 

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 27: The academic and administrative stalemate at Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has been continuing for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday, with classes and examinations not taking place.  Students and faculty members are protesting the government’s sudden decision to replace the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem, who was removed just 56 days after taking office without any stated justification what the CUET staff and student alleged.

Students have kept the university's main entrance and administrative buildings locked since September 22. Academic activities, including final examinations across multiple departments, remain completely suspended.

The government did not take any effective step to resolve the situation of the CUET, one of the highest seat of engineering learning of the country during the last six days amid complete shutdown. The academic future of over 5000 students are now in stake. But the authorities concerned still remain silent.

In a press briefing on Sunday, the students, staffs and the teachers sought the intervention of the Prime Minister Tareque Rahman to reinstate the removed VC.
