More than 220 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday (September 30), according to the Islamic Waqf authority in Al-Quds, quoted by Iranian news agency IRNA.

The Waqf authority stated that Israeli forces provided security escort to the settlers during the intrusion, which coincided with a Jewish religious holiday, while simultaneously restricting access for Palestinian worshippers seeking to enter the compound.

According to the report, settlers performed Talmudic rituals within the courtyard under police protection. Among those who entered the compound was former Israeli Knesset member Moshe Feiglin.

Data released by the occupied Al-Quds Governorate indicates that over 40,000 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex between January and August 2026. Conversely, approximately 800 Jerusalem residents have been issued ban orders or expelled from the compound since the beginning of the year through early September.

Palestinian religious figure Sheikh Ali Al-Youssef condemned the increasing frequency of settler entries, describing the actions as a organized effort aimed at altering the Islamic identity of Al-Aqsa and furthering the Judaization of occupied East Jerusalem.
