Indian pilot now a hero saving lives of 174 passengers, preventing another 9/11 like attack

New Delhi, Oct 1: Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian pilot, has become a global hero for saving the lives of 174 passengers and preventing another 9/11 like attack. The world is praising him for his heroic courage.

Not only did he sent out emergency signals, he was also reportedly able to click open the super hard cockpit door allowing passengers to rush in and overpower the attacking copilot who stabbed the pilot and caused the aircraft to plunge roughly 17,400 feet in less than two minutes. 

The flight was an hour away from its destination when the aircraft transmitted distress code 7700, the signal for general emergency. Seconds later, it transmitted the code 7500 which indicates powerful hijacking or unlawful interference.

Two off-duty FlyDubai pilots, who were among the passengers, took control of the aircraft and carried out the emergency landing at Tabuk in Saudi Arabia.

Israel's National Security MinsiterItamer Ben-Gvir has said that he will seek the extradition of the yet to be identified Omani copilot accused of attempting to crtial ash the flydubai aircraft. 

The suspect is being held in Saudi Arabia after the aircraft carrying 174 persons including 27 children, made an emergency landing at Tabuk. 

According to The Times of Israel, the UAE is expected to take custody of the suspect after Saudi Arabia completes its initial investigation,
While the Captain is being treated in a hospital in Tabukcity, world leaders including President DroupadiMurmuand Prime Minister Narendra Modi have praised him for his valour. 

Modi said that Captain Smit Machchhar has shown the world the highest form of courage. Modi said, “Without fearing for his own life, Captain Machchhar fought valiantly and prevented another 9/11 like attack." 

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said that India is proud of Captain Machchhar whose valour helped save hundreds of lives and avert a great tragedy. “In the face of the gravest danger and despite being seriously injured, he showed immense courage and an unwavering resolve to protect the lives of others.
