A fire broke out at the Rajbari district BNP office in the early hours of Saturday, damaging banners and lights on the office wall and the collapsible gate.
The fire is believed to have been started late Friday night. Police and leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations visited the office after the incident was reported in the morning.
BNP leaders condemned the incident and alleged that it was a planned act aimed at creating instability in Rajbari and elsewhere. They demanded that those responsible be identified and arrested within 48 hours.
Rajbari Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Uttam Kumar Ghosh said police inspected the scene after receiving the report. He said the fire appeared to have been started using kerosene and that an investigation was underway to bring those responsible to justice.
