Huge billboards mocking US President Donald Trump have appeared across Tehran, featuring anti-US messages and imagery depicting Iran’s confrontation with the United States and Israel.
The billboards have been installed in busy parts of the Iranian capital, including Valiasr Square.
One design created by the House of Designers studio shows Trump with his lips stitched shut against a backdrop of the Strait of Hormuz, a key flashpoint in tensions between Iran and the US. It carries the message: “At the breaking point.”
Studio manager Mostafa Kafaei, 32, said the team quickly gets to work whenever major news breaks, developing ideas and directing graphic designers to produce new designs.
The studio has a news-monitoring team operating under one of Iran’s largest state media organisations. The billboards are government-funded and used to promote official messages.
Another billboard depicts Trump trapped inside a magician’s box, holding a Coca-Cola and a hamburger, with the message: “Blink and you’re gone!”
The design refers to an incident in Turkey in July when Trump was reportedly moved discreetly from Air Force One to another aircraft in a catering truck over security concerns.
Kafaei said speed was their top priority, with teams of around eight people completing billboard designs within a few days. Most of the work is done using Photoshop, while the team also uses artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT and Nano Banana.
Another recently installed billboard shows an Iranian soldier standing on a US drone, referring to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ reported seizure of a drone in the Strait of Hormuz. It carries the message: “Business is going well.”
Other designs show a mythical warrior standing in rough seas with US warships burning in the background, alongside the message: “Satan’s army will drown in the Arabian Gulf.”
One billboard depicts Trump underwater reaching for a dollar bill, with the words: “Great victory! Strait of Hormuz.”
Asked why Trump is repeatedly featured in the designs, Kafaei said Trump is a media personality and that whenever he takes action in that sphere, the studio responds with an appropriate message.
