NAGESHWARI, KURIGRAM, Oct 4: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered a pistol, one round of ammunition and one kilogram of suspected crystal methamphetamine, known as “ice,” during a raid near the Nageshwari border in the district early Saturday, officials said.
The seizure was made around 2:45 am in Purba Ramkhana Ashkon Nagar under Ramkhana Union, after suspected smugglers fled toward India upon detecting a BGB operation. The seized goods were estimated to be worth Tk 5,01,00,200, according to the Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB).
BGB said the weapon and ammunition are being handed over to Nageshwari Police Station, while a sample of the suspected crystal meth will be sent to a laboratory to confirm its composition. Lt Col Mehedi Imam, the battalion commander, said efforts were underway to identify those involved in the suspected arms and drug smuggling.
