Gold jewellery prices have been reduced in Bangladesh, with the price of 22-carat gold cut by Tk 1,691 per bhori.
Following the reduction, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold jewellery now costs Tk 229,081, including VAT.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new prices, effective from 10:00 AM on Monday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring after the price of locally traded Tejabi gold declined. The committee’s chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, signed a notice announcing the revised prices.
Just five days earlier, on September 30, BAJUS had raised the price of 22-carat gold jewellery by Tk 2,216 per bhori.
Under the latest adjustment, the price of 21-carat gold jewellery has been reduced by Tk 1,574 to Tk 218,817 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has been cut by Tk 1,341 to Tk 187,907 per bhori, while the price of traditional-method gold has been reduced by Tk 758 to Tk 153,498 per bhori.
Before the latest reduction, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery stood at Tk 230,772 per bhori, including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold was Tk 220,391, 18-carat gold Tk 189,248 and traditional-method gold Tk 154,256 per bhori.
Despite the reduction in gold prices, silver jewellery prices remain unchanged.
