Dr Golam Rabbani, widely known as ‘Nayan Bangali’, is planning to return to Bangladesh and resume his legal practice at the Supreme Court, while expanding initiatives in education, leadership development and governance.
In an exclusive conversation, Rabbani said that after an extended period abroad, he intends to apply his professional experience and research to initiatives aimed at strengthening leadership, improving governance and supporting social development in Bangladesh.
Rabbani, whose areas of interest include local government and law, is the founder of the School of Leadership and Bangalir Pathshala. His initiatives focus on leadership development, civic awareness and social advancement, according to information provided about his work.
He also said he had a private conversation with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman following the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2026. According to Rabbani, the prime minister encouraged him to return to Bangladesh and contribute to leadership development and social progress.
Rabbani’s professional interests extend beyond legal practice. Earlier in his career, he worked on research concerning labour law in Bangladesh and later explored education law across several US states. He also says he has developed a theoretical framework concerning social law.
He is currently working on a research-based book titled Law of Leadership, which is expected to examine the relationship between leadership, law, social structures and governance.
His planned return would bring together his interests in legal practice, research and leadership development, with a stated focus on contributing to Bangladesh’s institutional and social progress.
