Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has become the fifth Bangladeshi cricketer to reach the prestigious milestone of 9,000 international runs across all formats, achieving the feat during the ongoing lone Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.

Entering the match with 8,929 runs across formats, Litton scored 53 runs in Bangladesh's first innings. Needing 18 more runs in the second innings to hit the landmark, he crossed the threshold by taking a single off Zia-ur-Rehman on the final ball of the 76th over. Having resumed Day 4 on an overnight score of 5, he comfortably gathered the required 13 runs.

With this achievement, Litton joins an elite group of Bangladeshi batsmen comprising Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mahmudullah Riyad.

Litton's milestone innings was aided by two dropped catches. Reprieved twice on individual scores of 14 and 26—both off the bowling of Qais Ahmad—he capitalized on the missed chances. The first catch was put down by Kamal at slip, while the second was dropped by Qais himself in a caught-and-bowled attempt that left the bowler grimacing in pain.

Litton’s international record now stands at 3,409 Test runs featuring 6 centuries and 21 half-centuries, alongside 2,869 ODI runs with 5 centuries and 14 fifties. In the T20I format, he is Bangladesh's most capped player with 124 appearances, accumulating 2,704 runs with 16 half-centuries.
