Former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor and Awami League leader Dr Salina Hayat Ivy secured fresh bail from a lower court in Narayanganj on Tuesday in a murder and explosives case over the death of rickshaw-puller Tuhin during the anti-discrimination student movement in Siddhirganj.
District and Sessions Judge Md Abu Shamim Azad granted her bail petition, said Ivy’s lawyer, Advocate Awlad Hossain. Ivy appeared in person before the court, he added. Tuhin, 36, was killed on July 20, 2024, during the movement. His wife, Aleya Akter, filed the case with Siddhirganj Police Station under the Penal Code and the Explosives Act.
The investigating officer submitted a final report under the Explosives Act, with a hearing scheduled at the District and Sessions Judge’s Court on Tuesday.
Although Ivy had already secured bail from the High Court in the case, her lawyer said a fresh application was filed with the lower court on Tuesday and granted.
