Iran is ready to use its capabilities to help resolve the Yemen crisis peacefully, calling for dialogue, an end to blockades and respect for the country's sovereignty.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made the remarks while speaking to reporters on Friday (October 16) night.

Baghaei said Tehran's position on Yemen remained unchanged. He stressed the need for dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen to resolve their differences and said Iran was ready to make every possible effort to end the crisis.

Referring to the long-running conflict, Baghaei said developments over the past 12 years had shown that military action, foreign intervention and blockades could not resolve the crisis.

He alleged that Yemenis had suffered for more than a decade because of naval and air blockades. He also claimed that the involvement of outside powers, including the United States and the United Kingdom, had further complicated the situation.

Baghaei called for joint efforts by regional countries and Muslim nations to address the crisis.

He also rejected an allegation by a Saudi Foreign Ministry official that Iran had encouraged Yemenis to launch attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Baghaei denied Iran's involvement in directing Yemen's military operations, saying the country's armed forces made decisions based on their own interests and assessments.

He said any lasting solution must respect Yemen's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also called for an end to interference in the country's internal affairs and the lifting of air and naval blockades.

Baghaei said Iran was ready to use all its capabilities to help resolve the crisis. However, he added that further escalation would serve no party's interests.

He expressed hope that the countries concerned would take effective steps to end the conflict and seek a solution through diplomacy rather than military confrontation.

No new agreement between Saudi Arabia and Yemen was mentioned in the report.
