Man killed by train in Gaibandha

A 58-year-old man was killed after being hit by an intercity train at Naldanga Railway Station in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Bishwanath, son of late Kartik Chandra, from Pratap village under Naldanga union of the upazila.

According to locals and eyewitnesses, Bishwanath was near the railway tracks in front of his house when he was hit by the Lalmonirhat Intercity train travelling from Lalmonirhat to Dhaka. He died on the spot.

Faisal Ahmed, a porter on duty at Naldanga Railway Station, confirmed the incident, saying the accident occurred at around 2pm on the southern side of the station platform.

Station Master Haiul Mia said they would contact Bonarpara Railway Police to take the necessary legal steps.
