One arrested in Rajbari murder case

Police have arrested Sumon Mondol, 35, in connection with the murder of Peerul in Rajbari.

He was arrested in Faridpur’s Madhukhali on Sunday night during a joint drive by Rajbari Sadar Police and the Detective Branch (DB).

On Monday, Sumon gave a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, said Rajbari Sadar Police Station OC Uttam Kumar Ghosh.

Peerul was shot near a mosque after Esha prayers on October 16 and died on the way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

The OC said Sumon acted as an informant in the killing. Police are trying to arrest other suspects.
