Bangladesh women's nqtional football team has moved up one place to 106th in the latest FIFA Women's World Ranking, despite enduring a 16-goal ordeal across their opening two Asian Games matches. The updated ranking, released by FIFA on Tuesday, puts Bangladesh on 1,175.35 points.
The rise comes after Bangladesh were thrashed 10-0 by North Korea and 6-0 by South Korea in Group F of the Asian Games. Yet the heavy defeats barely dented their ranking points, with the losses costing only 0.06 and 0.28 points respectively, largely because both opponents were ranked far higher.
Bangladesh recovered 4.64 points from their final group match, a goalless draw against Myanmar, lifting their overall tally to its present figure.
The result proved costly for Myanmar, who slipped one place to 56th, losing 5.54 points. Bangladesh, meanwhile, remain the third-highest-ranked South Asian side behind India and Nepal.
The latest ranking also means Rituparna Chakma and Monika Chakma's Bangladesh have retained the upward momentum generated by their historic qualification for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup.
