Two arrested for online fraud in Narail

Police have arrested two men in Kalia upazila of Narail for allegedly defrauding people through Facebook pages offering products at low prices and promising jobs.

The arrestees, Sajol Sheikh, 21, and Helal Uddin Kazi, 42, were arrested in Khararia Poler Bazar around midnight on Tuesday and sent to jail through a court on Wednesday, October 21.

Police said the accused operated several Facebook pages to collect advance payments from customers and cheat job seekers. Two smartphones were seized during the operation.

Another 10 people are allegedly involved in the scheme and remain at large. Helal, a bKash agent, allegedly helped cash out the money.

Kalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Idris Ali said police were analysing data from the seized phones and trying to arrest the other suspects.
