Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Litton Kumar Das will undergo a fitness assessment on Saturday in a bid to make him available for the upcoming Test series against West Indies.
The assessment will evaluate his recovery and determine his readiness to return to action, a BCB official said on Thursday.
Litton was ruled out of the ongoing tri-nation ODI series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to a right hip joint injury as Bangladesh crashed out of the tournament following humiliating defeat in both of their matches against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.
The injury was detected through an MRI scan, prompting the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to withdraw him from the squad as a precautionary measure. Parvez Hossain Emon was subsequently called up as his replacement.
The outcome of Saturday's assessment is expected to provide a clearer indication of Liton's chances of featuring in the two-match Test series.
The opening Test will begin on October 28 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with the second match scheduled to start on November 5 in Sylhet.
The BCB is yet to announce the squad for the series as Liton's fitness is expected to be a key consideration for the selectors.
