The Mohanagar Express began operating on the Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar route on Monday (October 26), expanding rail connectivity to the country’s popular tourist destination.
Railway Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the extended service at Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka. The train previously operated between Dhaka and Chattogram.
The train will stop at 12 stations along the route, excluding the terminal stations of Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar. These are Dhaka Airport, Narsingdi, Bhairab Bazar, Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria, Akhaura, Kasba, Cumilla, Laksham, Nangalkot, Feni and Chattogram. However, the train will no longer stop at Kumira station.
Under the revised schedule, train No. 722 will depart Dhaka at 8:30PM and reach Cox’s Bazar at 6:00AM the following day. On the return journey, train No. 721 will leave Cox’s Bazar at 9:00AM and arrive in Dhaka at 6:30PM.
The train will operate six days a week, remaining suspended on Sundays. It will offer Shovon Chair, Snigdha, AC Seat and AC Berth accommodation.
With the introduction of the extended service, three pairs of trains will now operate between Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar, alongside the existing Cox’s Bazar Express and Tourist Express.
The new service is expected to benefit passengers from several districts along the Dhaka–Chattogram corridor by providing direct train access to Cox’s Bazar without requiring them to change trains.
