The government has ordered officials who sublet or rented out their government-allocated flats, wholly or partially, to remove all tenants by October 31, warning of cancellation of allotments and legal action for non-compliance.
The Directorate of Government Accommodation issued the emergency notice on Thursday (October 29), saying such practices violate the Bangladesh Allocation Rules, 1982.
Officials found renting out government residences beyond the deadline may face disciplinary action, while their allotments could be cancelled. The authorities will also notify the concerned officials’ heads of office and appointing authorities for necessary disciplinary measures.
