Day 2 arguments in Taim murder case today

The prosecution is presenting its arguments for the second day today in the crimes against humanity case over the killing of Imam Hasan Taim in Dhaka’s Jatrabari during the July uprising. Eleven people, including former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, are accused in the case.
The hearing is scheduled for Thursday (November 5) before a three-member panel of International Crimes Tribunal-2, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.
The prosecution began presenting its arguments on October 12, describing how Taim was taken from a tea stall in Kajla on July 20, 2024, and shot dead. It also presented eyewitness accounts, video footage and still images allegedly showing police personnel opening fire.
Of the 11 accused, two are in custody: former Jatrabari OC Abul Hasan and former SI Shahadat Ali. The remaining nine, including Habibur Rahman, are absconding.
The prosecution alleges that Taim was shot at close range on the orders of senior police officials. His friend Rahat was also shot when he tried to save him.
The trial began after charges were framed against the 11 accused on February 22. Testimony started on March 29 and concluded before the case moved to the arguments stage.
Taim's father, Md Mainal Hossain Bhuiyan, is a police Sub-Inspector posted at Rajarbagh Police Lines.
