Women’s empowerment through skills and support in Jashore

Inner Wheel Club of Arushi Dhaka, Women’s Empowerment Organization (WEO) and Empowerment Welfare Association (EWA) jointly organised a two-day initiative to promote women’s empowerment, human dignity and social inclusion at Abdulpur village in Churamankathi, Jashore.

The programme aimed to support underprivileged rural women, children and persons with disabilities through financial empowerment, skill development and essential assistance.

On the first day, the organisers hosted a lunch for underprivileged children, women and project team members in recognition of their dedication and contributions. Two underprivileged women received sewing machines to help them become financially self-reliant. Wheelchairs were also distributed among persons with disabilities to support their mobility and inclusion in society.

On the second day, a handicrafts training workshop was organised for underprivileged rural women. The participants received practical training in sewing and other handicraft activities to develop their skills and create opportunities for income generation.

Nazma Masud Parul, president of Inner Wheel Club of Arushi Dhaka, said, “Women’s empowerment is not just about providing support; it is about creating opportunities for women to become confident, skilled and financially independent. Through such initiatives, we want to help underprivileged women build a better future with dignity and self-reliance.”

The organisers said such community-based activities could help improve livelihoods, encourage self-confidence and promote mutual respect. They also emphasised that empowerment begins with recognising the dignity and potential of every individual.
