The incident took place around 1PM at Dapdapia Ferry Ghat. The rescued man was identified as Siraj Molla, president of Dapdapia union Chhatra League and a union parishad member.

According to police, a team led by Nalchity Police Station Officer-in-Charge Touhiduzzaman Sohag arrested Siraj over an outstanding warrant. His three brothers and other family members allegedly attacked the police team and took him away. Several police personnel were injured in the incident.
