At least three people went missing from Khilgaon in the capital in the last 24 hours. The missing persons were identified as Dr Mubashar Hasan, 35, a NSU teacher, Md Asaduzzaman, 35, and his younger brother Faysal Rahman, 30.
Two general diaries have been filed with Khilgaon Police Station in the early hours of Wednesday.
Moshiur Rahman Officer-in-Charge of Khilgaon Police Station told The Daily Observer Dr Mubashar Hasan's father Motahar Hossain filed the GD around 1:00am on Wednesday morning stating that Dr Mubashar has been missing since Tuesday.
'Soon after Mubashar left his Dakkhin Banasree house for the university at 7:00am on Tuesday night, his mobile phone was found switched off,' the police officer quoted the GD as saying.
Mubashar's uncle Manjur Hossain said Mubashar was "fearing for his life" after a person, identifying himself as one of his students, went to his house on October 25 and asked for him in his absence.
Tanzin Syeed wife of Asaduzzaman filed a GD in the early hours of Wednesday stating that her husband and brother-in-law have been missing since Tuesday morning, both of their mobile phones were found switched off.
Tanzin Syeed said Asaduzzaman and Faysal Rahman, had gone out of their House No 67/A, Road 7 of Block H in Dakkhin Banasree and did not return.
However, an unconfirmed report reaching the Daily Observer on Wednesday evening say, both Asaduzzaman and his brother Faysal Rahman returned home.
Meanwhile, eight other people are still missing and their families and the law enforcers do not know their whereabouts. The maximum number of abductions took place during the first three months of the current year when eight people were abducted in Dhaka, says Ain O Salish Kendra, a legal aid provider.
Police are yet to find out Utpal Das, a senior reporter of news portal purboposhchimbd.news, who has been missing since October 10. Utpal's father Chittaranjan Das said, "We heard the news of Utpal's sighting somewhere, but it turned out to be a hoax."
Utpal's family and Khugesta Nur E Naharin, editor of the news portal, filed two general diaries with Motijheel Police Station after he went missing.
Anawar Hossain DC of Motijheel Police Station said the news of finding Utpal Das 'may be fake'.
BNP leader and former lawmaker Ilias Ali went missing around two years ago and the law enforcers so far could not trace him out.
The whereabouts of Aniruddha Kumar Roy, the Managing Director (MD) RMM Group, Syed Sadat Ahmed Sadat, Managing Director of ABN Group and Secretary General of Bangladesh Kalyan Party MM Aminur Rahman are still unknown.

A Bangladeshi youth, who is a student of a Canadian university, has remained "traceless" from Dhanmondi of Dhaka area since August 26 night. Family members suspected Ishrak Ahmed Fahim, 19, a student of Computer Science and Engineering in McGill University, was abducted by some unknown persons when he was returning to his Dhanmondi residence. A missing diary was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station on August 27.
The family of Mithun Chowdhury, President of Bangladesh Janata Party (BJP), has sought intervention of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister in ensuring Mithun's safe return. Mithun and another leader of the party, Ashik Gosh Asit, remained missing since the night of October 27.
With the reports of untraced persons continuing to surface on the media, another youth allegedly went missing in the capital on October 7. Arafat Rahman, 24, reached the capital on September 17 from Nilphamari to visit his parents in Mohammadpur, said his father Mominul Haq.
