BNP spreads falsehood on Zia's grave visit: Obaidul

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday alleged that the BNP is now spreading falsehood without going Zia's grave intentionally.
"The BNP has not been prevented from going to the grave of Ziaur Rahman. The Home Minister himself informed me that the BNP was allowed to go to the mausoleum of Zia and it will not be interfered. But the BNP did not go there and intentionally unleashed the falsehood that the government has not given the permission," he said.
Quader, also the Road, Transport and Bridges Minister, made allegation while attending a cultural programme organized by the Awami League in observance as the UNESCO recognised the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage.
Quader said police has given permission to the BNP to go Zia's grave with a planned manner as an international conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association was held there during the time.
"Government did not obstruct them," he said.
Turning to the BNP's rally on November 12, Quader said BNP to wait till last moment for the permission of police.
"Awami League is not the authority to give permission to hold rally, it is the duty of police. Even we had to defer our schedule public meeting from November 9 to 18 due to security reasons," he said.
Pointing finger to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Quader said, "During the BNP regime they did not allow us to observe 3-day programme of International Mother Language Day programme, even they forcefully stop rally at our Bangabandhu Avenue party office."
