At least four persons were arrested with contraband drugs in four districts- Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Barisal and Thakurgaon, in three days.
DINAJPUR: A team of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) and Ansar, in a joint drive, arrested a drug peddler with 350 pieces of yaba tablet and one kilogram of hemp from Kazal Sahapara Village under Paltapur Union in Birganj Upazila here on Tuesday evening.
The arrested is Md Ashraful Alam, son of Md Rahidul Islam, of the village.
Assistant Director of DNC Mohammad Shahidul Mannaf Kabir said a team led by Inspector of DNC Md Golam Rabbani raided the said village with the help of Ansar and arrested the drug peddler with the contraband items.
Birganj Police Station (PS) sources said three cases under Narcotics Control Act were filed against the arrested earlier.
RAJSHAHI: Police arrested a drug peddler with 1.300 kg of hemp and cash Tk 2.21 lakh from his house at Shibpur Village in Charghat Upazila here early Tuesday.
The arrested is Hasanuzzaman Hasa, 45, son of Shahidullah, of the village.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charghat Model PS Nibaran Chandra Barman said, on a tip-off, a police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) of the PS Utpal raided the drug peddler's house at the said village and arrested him with the hemp and the cash.
Meanwhile, sensing police's presence, Shahidullah fled away, the OC said.
In this connection, SI Utpal filed a case against the arrested and his father with the PS.
BARISAL: Detective Branch (DB) of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP), in a drive, arrested a woman with 550 bottles of phensedyl from Chahatpur area in the city on Monday night.
The arrested is Zakia, 21, wife of Babu, of the area.
Assistant Commissioner of DB Nasiruddin said on a tip-off, they raided the said area and arrested the woman with the phensedyl.
A case was filed in this connection.
THAKURGAON: DB of Police arrested a drug peddler with 251 bottles of phensedyl from Nekmarad area under Ranishonkoil Upazila here Sunday night.
The arrested is Jahurul Islam, 24, son of Md Shawkat Ali, of Dharmagarh area in the upazila.
Police said on a tip-off, they arrested him with the phensedyl from the said area.
A case under Narcotics Control Act was filed with Ranishonkoil PS on Monday afternoon.
DB OC Mohammad Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident.
