Four killed in road mishaps in 4 dists

At least four persons were killed and 22 injured in separate road accidents in four districts- Magura, Comilla, Rajshahi and Madaripur, in two days.
MAGURA: One person was killed and 19 others were injured in a road accident on Magura-Jessore highway at Shimulia area in Sadar Upazila here on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Samir Saha, son of Balaram Saha, of Jagla Village in the upazila.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station (PS) Sheikh Ilias Hossain said the accident occurred at 9:30pm when a Jessore-bound bus from Dhaka dashed a shallow-engine driven human hauler, killing one of its passengers on the spot and injuring 19 others.
Station Officer of Magura Fire Service and Civil Defence Sarwar Hossain, who along with his troops also took part in rescuing the injured, said the accident happened as there was dense fog.
"We rushed 16 seriously injured to Magura 250-Bed Hospital, and of them the condition of five was critical," Sarwar further informed.
COMILLA: A pickup-van driver was killed in an accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Noapara area under Chowddagram Upazila here on Friday. The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, 30, pickup-van driver and son of Lil Mia, of Balibari Village under Dabidwar Upazila of the district.
Chowddagram PS OC Abul Faisal said a Chittagong-bound vegetables-laden pickup-van lost its control and hit a roadside tree at Noapara area at 11:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection.
RAJSHAHI: A youth was killed and another injured in a road accident in Mohanpur Upazila here early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Alal Ali, 27, son of Zeher Ali, of Bahadurpur Village under Niyamatpur Upazila in Naogaon District.  Mohanpur PS OC SM Abul Kashem Azad said Alal Ali and injured Sultan Ali, 30, were going to Rajshahi by an auto-rickshaw when a truck dashed the auto, leaving Alal dead on the spot and Sultan seriously injured.
Locals admitted the injured to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
MADARIPUR: A man was killed and two others were injured in a road accident near Kathalbari ghat in Shibchar Upazila here on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Hazrat Ali, 22, son of Akkas Khan, of Nawdoba   Village under Janjira Upazila in Shariatpur District.  Police said a speedy Faridpur-bound truck rammed into a confectionary shop at the said area, leaving Hazrat Ali dead on the spot and two others- Tofazzel and Saidul seriously injured.
The injured were admitted to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex. Shibchar PS OC Md Zakir Hossain said police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
A case was lodged with the PS in this connection.
