BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said that the country has now turned into a den of 'terrorism' as the government wants to cling to power terrifying people with its repressive acts.

He alleged that law enforcers are playing the role of 'collaborators' of the ruling party 'cadres' in repressing and attacking their opponents, UNB reports.

In a statement, BNP secretary general said that the criminals are getting encouraged to indulge in misdeeds due to the government's 'patronage', law enforcers' assistance and the culture of impunity.

The statement was issued protesting the 'attack and vandalising' of BNP's Tangail district unit office on Friday.

Fakhrul said Awami League 'cadres' attacked the BNP office as part of their continued countrywide 'criminal activities'. "I strongly condemn it."

The BNP leader warned the ruling party that it will not be able to hang onto power with repressive acts. "Instead, you'll get isolated from people further for your misrule."

He demanded the government immediately arrest the attackers and mete out exemplary punishment to them.
