Ex-Minister Matiur Rahman buried in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, Jan 14: Former minister, lawmaker and diplomat M Matiur Rahman was buried at his family graveyard in Joykul Village under Kawkhali Upazila here on Saturday evening.
He was suffering from old age complicacies. He died on January 9 last. He was 96.
His namaj-e-janaja was held at Jatiya Sangsad plaza and on Gulshan Azad Mosque premises.
His body arrived at 3pm by helicopter and his last namaj-e-janaja was held on Government Boys' School premises.
Water Resources Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, former General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Committee Ishaque Ali Khan Panna, Upazila Chairman and BNP leader SM Ahsanul Kabir, central leader of BNP Din Muhammad, local Awami League leader Karmuzzaman Mithu, Aminur Rashid Milton, and thousands of people attended his namaj-e-janaja.
Late M Matiur Rahman was lawmaker from 1986 to 1988 but before that he was commerce secretary.
