Cop stabbed in traffic police office

A police member was stabbed by an unidentifier attacker in a traffic police office in Rajshahi city on Tuesday afternoon.

Injured Joy Ram Kumar, 25, is a constable posted at Rajshahi Police Line. He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. 

Earlier, police set up a check post in front of the traffic police office in Bhatapara area to seize illegal motorcycles.

At one stage, police seized a motorcycle and constable Joy took it to the office.

The young man stabbed into Joy's head from behind and snatched away his helmet when he was going out of the office around 4:30 pm, leaving him critically injured, said Shahadat Hossain, officer in-charge of Rajpara Police Station.

Police assumed that the youth might be a mentally imbalanced, the OC added.
