Girl 'kills self' for failure in JSC exam

A Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinee in Barishal city reportedly hanged herself on Tuesday as she failed to come out successful in the examination.

Deceased Shahida Akter was a student of Barishal Govt Girls' School. She was the daughter of Shaheen Hawlader, a resident of Kaunia first lane in the city.

Family members said Shahida hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her room in the afternoon soon after the announcement of the results.

Shahida was taken to Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Sub-inspector of Barishal Metropolitan Police Nazmul Islam confirmed the matter.
