Police recovered the hanging body of a college girl in Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi on Saturday morning after she was abducted allegedly by her lover on Friday night.
Deceased Tamanna Sultana alias Tia (17) was the eleventh grader at Sadhanpur Pangu Shishu Niketon School and College and daughter of Abdur Rashid of Pirgachha village in the upazila.
Victim's father Abdur Rashid said Tamanna had a relationship with Shanto Islam, a twelfth grader of the same institution. They wanted to marry each other but their families did not give consent to this.
On Friday night, Shanto along with his some friends came to their home and picked up her daughter. Since then, she was missing the whole night, he alleged.
Later, local spotted the girl hanging from a mango tree nearby home this morning.
The victim's father also alleged that his daughter was murdered after rape, and then body was hanged from the tree.
Bagmara Police Station officer in-charge Ataur Rahman said though the victim's house in the upazila but the area where she was found hanging is under duty area of Naldanga Police Station in Natore.
Being informed, Naldanga Police Station recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue, said officer in-charge Ujjal Hossain.
Whether death of the girl is suicide case or murder, it would be known after completion of autopsy, OC Ujjal added.
