Man hacked dead by nephew, 2 held

A man was hacked to death by his nephew at Malda Colony in Rajshahi city on Saturday morning.

Deceased Ramjan Ali, 28, was the son of Abdur Razzak, a resident of the colony.

Boalia Police Station officer in-charge Nibaran Chandra Barman said Ramjan and his nephew Sohel Sheikh, 30, locked into an altercation over lent money at Ramjan’s shop around 11:00am.

At one stage, Sohel hacked Ramjan with lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 11:30 am.

The body was handed over to the family after autopsy.

Police arrested two people including Sohel following a case filed with the Police Station by the deceased’s mother.

During the primary interrogation Sohel confessed to the murder.

The arrestees were sent to jail in the evening following a court order.
