Passing the round of the last four of the SAFF Womens Championship 2024 will be crucial for Bangladesh. The tournament is scheduled to be played from 17 to 30 October this year in Nepal.

Bangladesh was the unbeaten champion of the 2022 SAFF Womens Championship as the women in red and green outfits outplayed the host Nepal rivals by 3-1. The Dasharath Rangasala at Tripureshwar in Kathmandu witnessed a heart-throbbing match on 19 September in the year.

Winning the biggest title of women in the region, Bangladesh women received praise and prizes. Hence, they also elevated peoples expectations for them.

Recently, on Saturday, the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) finished drawing the fixture and grouping of the tournament to be held in Nepal once again.

There, Bangladesh got India and Pakistan in the same Group-A. On the other hand, the host Nepal got Sri Lanka, Bhutan and the Maldives in Group-B.

It is expected that the group round will be easier for Bangladesh to pass as two teams from a group will move to the next round, the semi-finals.

It may not be hard for Bangladesh to defeat comparatively vulnerable Pakistan and move to the next round with India. But passing the semi-finals will be hard.

If Bangladesh do pass the group round it may face Nepal or Bhutan in the semis, considering the statistics there are more chances that the semi-final will see a Bangladesh-Nepal match, a reappearance of the 2022 SAFF Womens final.

The host will not let it slide easily without taking revenge. Besides, Bangladesh has several changes and got some fresh bloods.

Either way, the semi-final will be the toughest for the women. If they can pass that too, the final will be the ultimate dilemma to ponder.
