SAFF Women's Championship 2024

Bhutan stuns Maldives 13-0

Bhutan women's national football team, the Dragon Ladies, outsmarted the opponent from the Maldives by a 13-0 big margin in a deciding match in Group-B of SAFF Women's Championship 2024 and secured a spot in the semi-finals at the Rangasala in Kathmandu in Nepal.
 
The Dragon Ladies flooded the post of Bhutan throughout the match. It all started with their prominent striker Sonam Choden opening the net in the fifth minute of the match. Her friend Pema Choden Tshering doubled the score two minutes later. Pema scored her second in the 18th minute. 

Striker Deki Lhazom made a hat-trick scoring five goals in the 15th, 19th, 47th, 53rd, and 71st minutes. Tshering Yanden made a brace scoring in the 65th and 80th minute. 

Besides, Namgyel Dema scored one in the 41st minute, Deki Yangdon netted one in the 48th and Tshering Lhaden netted one goal in the 68th minute. 

Winning the match, Bhutan also joined Bangladesh and India in the group of four. Earlier, Bangladesh stormed into the semis with a 3-1 win over India in the last match of group on Wednesday.
