College student killed being hit by trolley in Satkhira

A college student was killed after a soil-laden trolley hit an easybike in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sumaiya Khatun, 18, daughter of Ojiar Rahman Gazi of Chhalimpur village under Kalaroa upazila. She was a Class XII student of the humanities group at Kalaroa Government College.

According to eyewitnesses, Sumaiya was heading towards the Kalaroa upazila town riding on an easybike around 8:00 AM. When the vehicle reached in front of Betarabati High School in Kalaroa municipality, a speeding soil-laden trolley hit the easybike. She then fell onto the ground and subsequently run over by a trolley, leaving her critically injured.

Later, locals rushed her to Kalaroa Upazila Health Complex and she was later referred to Satkhira Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.

Kalaroa Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) SM Shaheen confirmed the incident.
