Mehazabien cleared of fraud case

A Dhaka court on Monday acquitted model and actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alishan Chowdhury of charges involving alleged financial fraud and criminal intimidation.

Executive Magistrate Md Adnan Julfikar passed the order after a hearing at the Dhaka Executive Magistrate's Court.

According to the case statement, the complainant alleged that he had paid Tk 2.7 million in cash and via mobile financial services after being promised a partnership in the actress's family business. He claimed that the business venture never commenced and that repeated requests for a refund were delayed.
