A Dhaka court has scheduled February 2 for delivering its verdict in a corruption case involving deposed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her niece Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and 15 others.

The case concerns alleged abuse of power in securing a 10-katha government plot in the Purbachal New Town Project. The date was fixed on Sunday after both prosecution and defence completed their arguments at Dhaka Special Judge Court-4, presided over by Judge Rabiul Alam.

Filed on January 13 last year by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan against Radwan Mujib Siddiq, Sheikh Hasina and Tulip Siddiq were later added as accused. Following investigation, the ACC submitted a charge sheet against 18 individuals on March 10 last year.

The court recorded testimony from 28 witnesses, and charges were formally framed on July 31, paving the way for the trial.

Other accused include senior officials from the housing ministry, Rajuk officials, and former public office holders, including a former state minister for housing and public works.
