Ispahani Group has partnered with icddr,b to support the treatment of around 300 severely malnourished children at the Nutrition Rehabilitation Unit (NRU) of icddr,b's Dhaka Hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, says a press release.
On behalf of Ispahani Group it's Director Zahida Ispahani formally handed over the support to Dr Sarah Maria Salway, Acting Executive Director of icddr,b today at icddr,b, Mohakhali, Dhaka. Senior representatives from Ispahani Group including Omar Hannan, General Manager-Sales and Marketing; HM Fazle Rabbi, Deputy General Manager-Marketing (Brand); and Subrata Deb, Manager-Marketing (Brand), were present at the event. Armana Ahmed, Head of Fund Development, icddr,b along with the members from the Senior Leadership team were also present.
"icddr,b is doing much more than what its name stands for. I wish them best of luck for all the good work they are doing," said Zahida Ispahani at the event.
The support, to be provided over a six-month period from January to June, will enable icddr,b to deliver comprehensive treatment and nutritional rehabilitation services to children suffering from severe malnutrition-a major public health challenge in Bangladesh.
Malnutrition remains a leading contributor to child morbidity and mortality in Bangladesh. Evidence from icddr,b study shows that severely malnourished children face a significantly higher risk of death even after being discharged from hospitals following successful treatment of acute illnesses such as diarrhoea and pneumonia. To prevent these deaths, the Nutrition Rehabilitation Unit (NRU) at icddr,b Dhaka Hospital delivers an evidence-based and sustainable nutritional rehabilitation programme.
