The family of Ruplal Das and his son-in-law Pradeep Lal, who were beaten to death in a mob attack in Rangpur's Taragonj upazila last year, has alleged that suspects released on bail are threatening them to withdraw the murder case.

Taragonj Police Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar Barman said on Monday that Ruplal's wife, Bharati Rani Das, filed a written complaint alleging intimidation by accused persons.

According to the complaint, Bharati said her husband and son-in-law were killed by a mob on August 9 last year. She filed a murder case the following day. Police later arrested 12 people after analysing video footage and other evidence.

One of the accused, Md Rubel Paikar, was released on bail and allegedly threatened Bharati and her son Joy at Taragonj market on January 22. Another suspect, known as Sohag, has also been issuing threats, she alleged.

Rubel denied the allegations, calling them false. Attempts to contact Sohag were unsuccessful.    "bdnews24
