The BASIS IT Exporters' Night- 2026 was held on January 27th in Dhaka, celebrating a major milestone in growing IT export sector. Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) organized the event in partnership with the Business Promotion Bureau.
Its main goal was to reflect on the IT sector's 28-year journey, celebrate its achievements and lay out future plans.
The evening gathered key players from the industry such as top IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) exporters, policymakers, entrepreneurs, diplomats, and industry leaders from around the world. It was a chance to showcase how far Bangladesh has come and to discuss the road ahead.
One of the highlights was the award ceremony to top 10 IT and ITES companies for 2024-25. These companies, such as BJIT Limited, Brain Station 23 Limited, ULKASEMI Private Limited, and several others were recognized for their significant contributions to IT export earnings. They operate in advanced fields like software development, AI, fintech, healthtech, and R&D, bolstering the country's global reputation.
Speakers shared impressive figures noting that BASIS member companies are actively exporting to more than 104 countries. In FY 2024-25, around 500 companies were involved in exports, with about 300 regularly exporting.
The United States, Japan, the UK, South Korea, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Canada remain the main destinations for Bangladesh's IT exports.
The evening was featured by a panel discussion on the prospects and challenges of IT exports for economic diversification. The discussants include industry leaders like Julian Andrin Weber of SELISE Bangladesh, Raisul Kabir of Brain Station 23, Ferdous Mahmud Shaon of Cefalo Bangladesh, and Morikawa Yuko of JICA Bangladesh.
They emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among policymakers, banks, and private companies to expand exports. Moderated by Mushfiqur Rahman and Rashed Kamal of BASIS, the discussion focused on strategies to overcome hurdles and grow the sector further.
Chief guest, Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division said, the "IT and ITES sector is now a major part of Bangladesh's economy based on a skilled workforce and government support." He emphasized on policies like cash incentives, skill development, and global market access to boost exports.
