A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to Mohammad Sarwar Alam, an assistant programmer at Bangabhaban, who was arrested over the alleged hacking of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman’s X account.

Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Junaid passed the order following a hearing.

Sarwar Alam was detained by police on Tuesday after a complaint was filed under the Cyber Security Ordinance at Hatirjheel Police Station.

He was later shown arrested and taken into Detective Branch (DB) custody.

Detective Branch Chief, Additional Police Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, said Sarwar’s mobile phone and laptop had been seized for forensic examination.

He added that investigators had found sufficient evidence against the accused.
