3, including woman held with drugs in Madaripur

Joint forces arrested three suspected drug peddlers, including a woman, along with drugs from Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district on Wednesday night.

The arrested were identified as Nazma, 55, a resident from Surjomoni village, Md Yusuf, 18, a resident from Raipur village and Hasan Dhali, 28 from Surjomoni village.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of officials conducted a drive in Surjomoni area of Laxmipur union and arrested the trio with drugs.

Joint forces recovered 67 pieces of Yaba pills, 1.2 kilograms of hemp and cash of Tk 33,280 from their possessions.

Kalkini Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Jahirul Islam confirmed the arrests on Thursday and said that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
