Two leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Jubo Dal were killed after being run over by a waste-carrying truck of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) in the city’s Jalkuri area on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Kadir Zilani, 26, former general secretary of Fatullah union Chhatra Dal, and Md Masum Billah, 27, publicity secretary of Ward No. 9 Jubo Dal at Kutubpur.
Police said the accident occurred around 6:00PM at Jalkuri Daspaip area when the motorcycle they were riding skidded while attempting to overtake a waste-laden drum truck near Jhutpatti. Both riders fell onto the road and were run over by the vehicle, dying on the spot.
Siddhirganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Emdadul Haque confirmed the incident, saying the truck involved in the accident has been seized.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
