Uttara university bus accident leaves 21 injured

At least 21 students were injured when a university bus overturned on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Rajendrapur area of Gazipur on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 5:45 PM when a bus of Uttara University was heading towards Maona from Uttara carrying students.

Gazipur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Aminul Islam confirmed the incident, saying the bus lost control and overturned on the roadside.

“Twenty-one students were injured in the accident. Two of them are in critical condition and have been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment and the other  injured were rescued and taken to different hospitals soon after the incident,” he said.

The accident-hit bus has been recovered from the spot. However, identities of the injured students could not be immediately confirmed, concluded the OC.
