Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) chief coordinator and the candidate of the 11-party alliance in Dhaka-8, Nasiruddin Patwary, has alleged that he was assaulted while visiting the Railway Colony High School polling centre in his constituency.

The incident reportedly took place around 12:00 PM on Thursday, while Patwary was speaking to journalists at the centre.

According to him, supporters of rival candidate Mirza Abbas chanted slogans calling him “fake” and later chased him, leading to the alleged attack.

The army quickly intervened to restore order, and law enforcement authorities safely escorted Patwari out of the chaotic situation.

Following the incident, Patwary posted on his verified Facebook page, accusing Abbas’s supporters of voter intimidation and violence.

He wrote that BNP activists attacked him in the presence of officials when the NCP team tried to enter the polling centre, and he called for an immediate and thorough investigation to ensure voter safety.

Patwary strongly condemned the attack and urged the authorities to take swift action to maintain security at the polling centre.

So far, Mirza Abbas or his representatives have not responded to the allegations.
