CHATTOGRAM, Feb 16: A total of 459 temporary employees in 19 different posts at the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) were made permanent on Monday. Since Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain took office, 1,450 temporary employees have been regularized.

Mayor Hossain shared the information during a meeting with temporary employees at the CCC office in Tiger Pass. He emphasized the importance of skilled and experienced manpower in maintaining dynamic development activities and said that employees who had served temporarily for long periods have contributed significantly through dedication, honesty, and professionalism.

"The process of making temporary employees permanent will continue in phases. Administrative structure, financial capacity, and regulations will be reviewed, and qualified employees will be regularized step by step. This will stabilize the working environment and improve the quality of services," he said.

He added that permanent positions are being granted first to those included in the official manpower structure and cleared by the ministry. The CCC is also coordinating with the ministry regarding other temporary employees, who will be regularized in phases upon approval.

Mayor Hossain noted that job stability boosts employees' responsibility and enthusiasm, which positively affects the city's services. He urged all staff to perform their duties with sincerity and accountability.

The 459 employees made permanent on Monday hold positions in technical, administrative, and support roles, including electricity, equipment maintenance, office support, cleaning, and other essential services.

CCC acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Md. Ashraful Amin, along with other senior officials, were present at the occasion.
