Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has provisionally nominated 4,136 candidates for non-cadre posts from among those who passed the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Examination–2021.

The results were published through an official notification signed by PSC Controller of Examinations (Cadre) Masuma Afrin on Thursday.

According to the notice, the nominations were made under Rule 6 of the Non-Cadre Appointment (Special) Rules, 2023, considering candidates’ merit positions and stated preferences.

Appointments will be made against vacant posts in 9th to 11th grade positions across various ministries and departments.

A significant number of candidates have been nominated to 9th-grade posts in different government offices.

These include three candidates for the position of Upazila Food Controller under the Directorate General of Food, eight for Sub-Registrar posts under the Directorate of Registration and 29 for Assistant Director posts in the Department of Narcotics Control.

In addition, 14 candidates have been nominated to the Department of Passports, while 19 have been selected as Drug Inspectors under the Directorate General of Drug Administration.

In the 10th grade, a large portion of appointments will be made under the National Board of Revenue (NBR), where several hundred candidates have been nominated for the post of Assistant Revenue Officer. Besides, 163 candidates have been selected as food inspectors under the Food Directorate and 18 as fisheries extension officers under the Department of Fisheries.

This notification also noted that no candidates could be nominated for several posts due to the unavailability of eligible applicants. These include positions such as clinical psychologist under the Department of Narcotics Control and instructor (Agriculture and Physical Education) under the Directorate of Primary Education.

It may be recalled that the notification for the 44th BCS examination was published on November 30, 2021, drawing applications from nearly 350,000 candidates.

A total of 15,708 candidates passed the preliminary examination, while around 4,000 eventually qualified in the written examination stage.
