Revolutionary Student Unity (RSU) has demanded the immediate cancellation of the recent US-Bangladesh trade agreement, calling it an unequal deal that undermines national sovereignty and serves imperialist interests.

In a statement sent Thursday, RSU President Dilip Roy and General Secretary Jabir Ahmed Jubel condemned the agreement signed by the interim government days before the national election, describing it as a compromise of domestic interests for foreign gain.

They said the deal opens Bangladeshi markets to thousands of American products, imposes mandatory imports, and accepts strategic conditions for minimal tariff reductions, which could weaken local industries, agriculture, and production. "Economic penetration lays the foundation for political and strategic control," the statement said.

RSU also criticised the interim government's secrecy and called for investigation into the advisory council that signed the agreement. The student leaders additionally protested the appointment of Khalilur Rahman, a former interim government adviser, as Foreign Minister, claiming it demonstrates continued pro-American policies.
