7 injured in gas cylinder blast at Ctg building

At least seven people were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a residential building in Halishahar area of Chattogram city early Monday.

Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Md Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter and said the explosion occurred around 5:45 AM on the third floor of a six-storey building in front of Abahani Club ground.

The identities of the injured could not be known immediately.

He also added that the explosion triggered a fire in the building, leaving seven people including women and children with burn injuries.

On information, two firefighting units rushed to the scene but locals managed to douse the flames before their arrival, he said.
