Four members of a family, including a three-year-old child, sustained burn injuries following a gas leak explosion at a residence in the city's Hazaribagh Police Station area early Sunday.
The incident occurred around 3:45AM at a rented flat in the basement of a six-storey building named 'Jahanara Villa' in the Rayerbazar area.
The victims were rescued and admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at approximately 5:30AM.
According to Md Mamun, who brought the victims to the hospital, the fire broke out following a gas leak explosion in their rented apartment. The blaze left all four family members severely burned.
Resident Physician Assistant Professor Dr Shawon Bin Rahman of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery said all four victims arrived with significant burn injuries. Sheikh Noman sustained 70 per cent burns, Pinky Akter 75 per cent, their son Rohan 35 per cent and Noman's brother-in-law Apu 50 per cent.
Their conditions are being closely monitored, hospital authorities said.
